1st RICKMANSWORTH
(3rd SW Herts - Lady Ebury's Own)
SCOUT GROUP
(Founded March 15th 1909)

No, you did not read that wrong, March 15th 1909. Unfortunately, the Group suffered a fire during its history, and many historic documents and photographs were lost - a great shame. Nevertheless, due to the devotion and care of many of our senior group members, a few still remain.

We think this is probably the first ever photograph
of the troop, in 1907, shortly after they were formed.

Why not have a look at our GROUP HISTORY pages.
We have updated them for this, our CENTENARY Year, 2009.

"All you have to do is look at the kids to know they’re having an adventure. Scout camps are a time for them to run loose and be themselves. There’s always new things for them to do. Mind you, there’s always plenty for us to do too!"

Quote: A Scout leader.

Our Scout Group

1st Rickmansworth Scout Group was formed in 1909 and is the oldest group to be formed in Rickmansworth. But that's not to say that Scouting is lodged in the past. Long gone are the days of "dyb dyb dyb"! When you see some of the things Scouts get up to, you will soon see that we are one of the most forward thinking and active youth groups in the world. And in Rickmansworth, we are no different.

From the ages of 6 to 18 their is a youth section for you: Beaver Scouts (6 to 8) Cub Scouts (8 to 10) Scouts (10 to 14) and Explorer Scouts (14 to 18).

And it's not just boys either: Scouts are the largest co-educational youth organisation in the UK. So come on girls - come and join in.

But it's not just for our young generation - the Scout Network section caters for 18 to 25's and many adults gain immense satisfaction from joining in as Leaders and helpers, passing on their life skills and specialist knowledge to our younger members. There really is something for everyone at all ages in scouting.

It does not matter who you are, what you can do or how much time you have to spare, you will be made very welcome at 1st Rickmansworth Scout Group. Your enthusiasm and a little of your spare time is all you will need.

We have a great social life too - its not all work!

Why not contact us NOW and join in the fun. Send an email to:

Incidentally - all of the photographs on this web site are of young people and adults involved in Scouting in Rickmansworth.
We really do have fun and smile an awful lot.

Come on - Join the adventure!

Finding your way around.

It should be easy to find your way around - just use the menu bar of the left. Things may change from time to time, but that menu will always get you around the site. Its always worth checking our News and Updates page too - this is where we will keep you up to date with what's going on on the site - and in our Scout Group.
